It shows how humans depend on these ‘synths’ to do every day work for the humans giving viewers an insight to the development in artificial intelligence that could happen. I think the preferred reading is that ‘synths’ shouldn’t be developed as they could pose a threat scaring people. How is this encoded? The preferred meaning is encoded when in the first episode when Anita takes Sophie from her bed in the first episode which is scary for parents viewing the show.
