'Woman' magazine- Analysis of contents page

The woman contents page has loads of sub genres within the magazine. in the 'features' section there are 10 different sub-genres, this consists of, Secrets, Celebrities, DIY, romance, Domestic, Animals, Entertainment, Puzzles, Health and Horoscopes. Within the 'Fiction' section there is lots of articles about romance and love. In the 'Beauty' section there is 'A-level looks- makeup that works miracles', there is also a cookery section that has an article on "making the most of bacon"And a section on underwear and fashion with the article "loveliest langere" and 'home and 'knitting'. They all tie in with the social and cultural context of the 1960s society.

'woman' magazine- Front Cover Analysis

Masthead: The magazine makes it clear that it is aimed at women, as the title is 'woman'. The off cream colour is clear to read and in a font that looks very feminine and hand written. It shows who the target audience is clearly. Main image: The main image is of a young woman, maybe a stereotypical 1960s woman. It is the type of female you would expect to be on the front cover of a British magazine as she is a white, middle class, British woman. She looks very happy and pretty, she is wearing minimal makeup which makes her look pure and innocent. Lisbet Van Zoonen's feminist theory plays a big part in the idea that culture plays a big part in how females present themselves in society with their influence. Colour scheme:  The colour scheme that they use are the stereotypical feminine colours.
